Let me tell you a little about me and my practice.
I am in private practice with a renowned internationally respected group of plastic surgeons at The Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute and am well trained in all aspects of plastic and cosmetic surgery. My goal is to create natural beauty without making a person appear unnatural or "fake." I believe that a person's natural beauty should be enhanced, not altered. I believe in achieving the finest possible result with the least risk. I insist on using only physician anesthesiologists. I operate in an onsite fully accredited surgery center, the Dallas Day Surgery Center, or at Baylor University Medical Center. As the first plastic surgeon in the United States to complete a fellowship in laser surgery, I bring a unique and unmatched expertise in facial rejuvenation. I am happily married and enjoy spending time with my two boys.

I just don't feel like my old self. Where do I start?

The first step is to identify the problem. Facial aging, for example, can be seen in older looking skin, deeper lines and wrinkles, and sagging of the face from gravity. Another example would be the effects on the body from childbirth, which results in loss of breast volume, sagging of the breasts, stretch marks, extra abdominal fat, and general loss of body shape. Once the problem is identified, there is a good solution to correct the problem, no matter how big or small it may be.

How long does recovery take?

Recovery time varies depending upon the procedure: A few days for breast augmentation to several weeks for facelift or tummy tuck. One word of caution, however, is to look very carefully at any procedure that promises dramatic results with little to no downtime. While I try to limit the downtime a person may experience, I strongly feel it is my job to perform "textbook" surgery and not cut any corners.

How much does all this plastic surgery cost?

Cost is a real and important issue for all patients considering cosmetic surgery. Depending upon the procedure, the total cost entails the surgeon fee, facility/operating room cost, anesthesia, and any product costs such as breast implants or post-operative garments. After consultation, my certified office manager will carefully go over each cost and provide all necessary information about the procedure. In addition, there are several financing options available.

Dr Burns completed his medical training at the University of Texas Medical Branch graduating summa cum laude from the research honors program. As one of the top students, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary society. He stayed at the University of Texas Medical Branch where he completed a residency in Plastic Surgery. In addition, he completed externships in microvascular surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and cosmetic surgery with Drs Tom Baker and James Stuzin in Miami, Florida. Dr Burns is well trained in all aspects of plastic and cosmetic surgery. His philosophy is to achieve the finest possible result with the least risk. This is why Dr Burns insists on using only physician anesthesiologists for all but the most simple of procedures. In addition, he operates in an onsite fully accredited surgery center, Dallas Day Surgery Center, or at Baylor University Hospital and with the Plastic and Craniofacial Institute for Infants and Children at the Children's Medical Center in Dallas. As the first plastic surgeon in the United States to complete a fellowship in laser surgery, he brings a unique and unmatched expertise in facial rejuvenation. Many plastic surgeons offer only surgical solutions to restore a more youthful appearance. While surgery can often achieve remarkable improvements, failing to optimize the appearance of the skin will inevitably yield suboptimal results. With his advanced training in laser surgery, Dr Burns is uniquely qualified to address every aspect of facial rejuvenation.

Dr Burns and his wife, Ann, have been happily married for 7 years. His sons, Jack and David, keep him especially busy. Dr Burns is a member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church and the Christian Medical and Dental Society. He is regularly active with LEAP, an organization founded by his partner, Dr P. Craig Hobar, whose mission is to bring the finest reconstructive care to underserved countries. His personal interests include triathlons (running, biking, swimming), golf, tennis and skiing.
